seal Ahoy

A wintry Hello from Cornwall,

as we have heard, has returned not only with us such a thing as winter. In St. Ives Although there is no snow, but as we made our "lookout" in the attic can see, the "higher principles" on the coast well in snow (powder) is covered. The temperatures at night around the 0 degrees ...

This week there were no events The program, therefore is also not much to tell.

a high point - not only for this week - we have seen today from our trip to the Godrevy Lighthouse.
There is the "Seal - bay" and we have ever had a "seal image search" is set on our blog. Today we present an image that can be seen on the seals very well ... We have 50 --- --- FIFTY seen seals in words ... They were at lunch time on the beach ... it was just very very nice! On our walk we could also see some in the water ...

By the way ... Despite the described Temperatures are not only the seals in the water ... we could see also 10 surfers ... so I did not want with a neoprene is the cold water ...

So - even you a nice week ... until next time from Cornwall

Elvis hovers ... The Englishman

Porthia Greetings from ...

Porthia is the Cornish word for St. Ives ...

Wednesday was this week in Truro "City of lights". A lantern parade through the city during which the Christmas lights will be turned on. Different parts of the city and surrounding Communities had sent a group (often schools) are run with homemade lanterns through the city ... was pretty funny ... yes, and just as the Elvis floated through the air ...
below is a picture of him ...

Thursday was once again master of the German table in St. Ives. In total 10 people were there, it was nice and gave back some new things to learn.

Saturday we were in Newquay, where also the nearest airport. There is a house in a secluded location ... down a picture ... otherwise, the city is nothing really special (except containing the absolute place to surf ).... The mall is very long - Fast-Food and shops and amusement arcades go ... away ... One wonders what the people have the Atlantic Ocean off the door and then hang in the arcades ...???

Sunday we were just at home, and nothing except a walk on the program ...

Today is not every day we write again - no question ... Many greetings and have a nice week ...

"The revolution eats its children"

The National Assembly had in 1792 under the name "National Convention" produced. The Mountain (radical Jacobins) had the greatest influence in the National Convention. Maximilian Robespierre, a leading politician and lawyer, rose the most powerful man in Paris. He ran a reign of terror, which under the name of "virtue and terror" is known.
The economic crisis was aggravated by the war and led to counter-revolutionary uprisings (eg in Vendée) were defeated by the revolutionary army at the turn end of 1793/1794. To combat the internal and external enemies of the Revolution was Robespierre ordered between October 1793 and 1794 almost 14,000 people to death, including his political ally Marat Georges Danton and Jean Paul. To be stretched these death sentences despite Constitution may have been "revolutionary committees" formed where it was possible without hard evidence to arrest people and put to death. Very few were actually enemies of the revolution, but most were supporters, but the current policy stood in the way or have been victims of random rumors and envy.
These events spread fear among the members of the Welfare and Safety Committee and so was Robespierre on 07.28.1794 as the king once guillotined.

These events show how even supporters of the revolution fell on her victim. Whether the terror reign of Maximilian Robespierre, counter-revolutionary uprisings or the guillotine, many left for their convictions and their desire for change and in particular improve their lives. You could say symbolically: The revolution devours its children.

nice ....

Hello again,

we just say hello again again ... Today is Monday again and the blog will be written ... In This week we have really become our regular end ... at least almost ... The kids get to clock 15.30 in the school .. and by 5 clock starts getting dark .... where last week we were both free on Tuesday again. The first autumn storm had moved across the Atlantic. The waves were higher than normal LTL. Prediction, it should around 17 ft. So that's about. have been 4-5m waves. Tine and I went out to the "island" as the advanced means of land from St. Ives and have let the wind whistle around our ears. When it started raining, we went to the cafe on the beach ... Porthgwidden
A large window overlooking the beach and the ocean gives one the feeling of being right in the middle .. only that you can not hear the wind and not get wet from the rain. Fantastic ....

But nice to the English. Who is restless and impatient, should come from just ... In Tea - Shop, for example, were two nice gentlemen ... there was not much going on and I was again asked, "Sorry, where do you come from" ... it was a nice conversation and I learned that Shirley and Jack from London to come here and have an apartment in St. Ives and come as often as possible ...

The one time or another we have mentioned that the roads are in St. Ives sooo straight and narrow ...
The side streets in the city are therefore often one-way streets, and then gets out of order sometimes fast ne portion of "Fish & Chips' to pick up, then stop to wait 5 or 10 cars turn back ... because no honking and no one moves on ... (yes, I know, honk at McDonalds in Germany, no one here but is there any Fish & Chip "Drive Inn ")....

at the weekend were two "trips" on our program. Saturday we wanted to go to Falmouth, Newquay Sunday after ... In Falmouth we were, Sunday, we have let the rain stop us from driving to Newquay .. .. and were in Penzance

Falmouth's by our relatively unknown in Germany, unless you're sailing fan and is interested in explorers, ... Falmouth to Sydney and ... (I find it not just one ...) the third-largest natural harbor in the world ... In addition, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and a marina ... but which is not accessible to everyone ... unless the door is open and you just go through ... to have a look on a quiet Saturday lunch time the yachts at close ... what have we done to ... For example, there are two great yachts ... "Rebecca" is a sailing yacht, the rudder has an estimated diameter of 1.5 m and a length of about 45m ... (There were 47 large steps) MADNESS ... the ship is sooo big that it does not at all on his little camera ...
was also there's the "Steel" ... Port of Georgetown ... While no sailing, but about 50 steps long ... The other two dozen ships, we have looked comfortable .. we wanted to go ... but .... the door was now too .... goes even further back there .... So look for other starting ... Now we come back to the nice British ... was just a scrub on his yacht ... (After one just has so much paid for ne yacht, leaving no money for staff ...) and has even smiled at us when we came to his yacht over ... since we are Then stop back and said .. "we are lost" (that would absolutely say no in D. ... "I lost" sounds somehow heads off to ... but here it's just different ... well without hesitation he laid aside his mop and accompanied us to the starting ... a brief conversation and we knew also where Jacob's Ladder, is from which one can survey a large part of the port .. (but we did not manage To get there ... we stand out for next time on ...)

After we were happy and content again, "free", we walked towards dry docks at times by Fryderyk Chopin ausschau to ... Keep Samuel's our sailing ship - freak and has a few books about it ... in a book is the Fryderyk Chopin .. a vessel under the Polish flag, which brings together youth from all over the world to sail around the world .. On 29 October the Chopin came off the Scilly Islands in a storm and broke both masts ... Thus, risk was announced and the crew was an SOS signal. A ship from the vicinity came to Chopin to take in tow. The Lifeboats of Scilly and Sennen Cove (you know it, our local "hot chocolate") in advanced to be able to take just in case the crew. The ship, however, could be held safely in the port of Falmouth, where we then discovered on Saturday to ... Currently it will be repaired ... there is no one's on something ...

Sunday we were in Penzance, there was another sailing ship, the Earl of Pembroke "are in dry dock to be prepared for the winter ... The ship is known in England as it is "played" in the series "Hornblower" and other TV and film productions has ... Well, unfortunately it was gone ... for that we were in the "Morrab Garden", a public park that is located in Penzance. The garden has many exotic plants, including camellias, and stood at the Guide ... "can sometimes be seen blooming at Christmas in the Park, the camellias ... So if nothing extraordinary happens, it is this Year at any rate so ... there are already some of the bloom and the bushes are full of buds ...
A few pictures are attached ...

much from us for this week ... Greetings from the island of Tine, Harry and boys ...

Rate Of Respiration Reptile Vs Mammal

Nothing new from Cornwall

Hello,

this week we have not done anything special ... On Saturday we were in Praa Sands on the south coast. There were a few surfers in the sea ... It was a beautiful sunset ...

Sunday wanted the children again in the place called "Hot Chocolate" ... (Sennen Cove) ... Café in the Beach there are the "Hot Choclate with everything "... where everything means ... marshmallows, whipped cream and a thick piece of grated chocolate ... Mmm ... (or jamjam, as the English say) even there to see some surfers ... I think they are in winter and in the water ...

The Warning of the week ...
we could already make acquaintance with the handling of petty violations of parking ... ah yes, 15 min. paid more than pounds ... xx ... it hurts ... but we here can see standing in the parking lot so .... (if we in the "Combi" We have to keep sitting in a prime position) as can We warn them and say if you ever in Cornwall are - please always very friendly - especially to feed the parking meter ... always good ... otherwise it really expensive ... our research has not yet reached such an extent that we can determine the time when a front wheel is blocked ... but then it gets even more annoying because you can not go away then ... Also on Saturday afternoon in Praa Sands got someone to put a clamp on the car ... is not like that the season is over and the parking lots are almost empty ...
well, you are now warned .. the rest have to do your own ...

The laugh of the week ...

Jeremy sits in the morning before his bedroom sitting cross-legged in the hallway on the ground, Spelt has a pillow on his head and says constantly "hwoom centurion .... where it came from just do not know ... but it was a picture to yell ....
below are a few new pictures ....

How Long Can You Keep Carbonara For

Half Term Holiday

Hallööchen from Cornwall,

this week was a holiday and the boys had not therefore to school! Monday we have so our first Stage of the planned "Cornwallumrundung" back down. Detailed report is on the side "Once around Cornwall" which we have refurbished.

was Tuesday "finally" time English Weather! to stay inside and really nothing to do ...

Wednesday was a trip to the beach of Perranporth on the "holiday program. The beach is approx. 5 km wide at low tide and 200-300m. There are some caves and arches "through which one can pass through at low tide and climbing. Samy and Jeremy have explored the cave, and we found an adventure path through the caves back to the beach. It was great fun ...

Saturday we had the city of St. Agnes. This provides a small but interesting beach and many old houses typical of Cornwall. Many old houses are built of the granite occurring in Cornwall. (Actually Cornwall is quite a granite rocks). Therefore, the granite is still a cheaper building material. Even Slate is here - as it often happens - cheap ... unlike in Germany ...

Sunday has it rained again. After we were (so to speak German "mouse hole" in English. "Mausel"
) in the town of Mousehole has almost drenched, we went to the Telegraph Museum in Porthcurno. From here came the first overseas - cable from England to Bombay ... in 1870 was this. Up to 2 World War it was the largest telegraph station in the world. From here 40 cable went into all the world. It was very interesting ... especially became clear that it is really the 1st www was ... containing just with much simpler means. Each letter was sent out in Morsealphabeth to each other .. A message needed from Porthcurno to the United States, for example 8 hours .... The cables were moved by ship and were in some cases 2500 miles (1 mile approx. 1.6 km) long ... It took six months to produce and store the cable on the ship, but only 19 days this .... to be laid in the U.S. So that's about 1880 ...

If we're at it ... with the phone companies, it is so slow to "running gag" ... despite letter we have not really gotten on ... we got a welcome e-mail .... by Title "Dear Lorraine ... this is the first name of our landlord ... Also there was a call from Talk Talk, ... Fortunately we were not at home ... They also wanted to speak Lorraine ... the spin - the phone companies ...

pictures and info on weekly or below, at "Once around Cornwall ... so far this week ...

Many greetings home ... or wherever our blog will be read ..
