Arrival - Arrival
Hello!
After a week of looking and finding, and various bureaucratic errands here a first report of our adventure in Cornwall ...
, arriving by plane went without Complications - the plane was on time so we could enter at 7.40 London time clock the soil of England. We gave up the "Pope-usual" kiss the ground ... who knows what to expect ...
Since our boys wanted to see necessarily the old sailing ship HMS Victory in Portsmouth and we have not succeeded in the last two vacations England, was the planned visit to the Victory as the first highlight. The weather was kind to us, so we could enjoy the sunshine of the trip.
for the night was booked for a hotel in Southampton - by phone - a B & B.. a recommendation of another B & B, which was already occupied ... well ... what can you do when the kitchen looks as though the transition to the garden does not exist, just a bomb had hit and the room the children have been sucked last time in 1998? In the 2nd Bedroom, the duvet cover at the penultimate host changed last time ...
... quite simply ... Unpack the suitcase did not even wait for a quiet moment with the whole team and look into the distance ... more nearly 3 hours we were at a safe distance, a nice B & B. .. clean and comfortable ... how one actually knows of England ...

refreshed and with a very good English breakfast, we were on Saturday (28/08/2010) the way of Christ Church (on the Channel coast) compete to St. Ives. Shortly before 18:00 clock we arrived in glorious sunshine for our "little house" at. Small problem: The road is so narrow that you could not get out ... the car park so close that one of the chosen direction was not to park on ... So reverse gear 10 m back - made ... no block of granite, and no wall knocked down ... Now from the other side down the street and down the parking lot .. Well, from the side that's better ... as our Neighbor informed later have here have driven many a bump in the car.
Our landlady was already in the house so we could move directly to our small but beautiful new home on time. Evening was even time for a little walk to the harbor.
was on Sunday, a first practicing on the "Putting - Green on the program, it can not be compared with the usual in Germany," Mini Golf ".. Here is just a piece of English lawn with 18 holes and a few bumps ... "Our" putting green is directly above the Porthmeor Beach with wonderful views of the Atlantic. Thus, a "putting" of course hungry. The visit of a cafe was therefore urgently required. A cream tea with scones and clotted cream ... its a dream ...
To facilitate our entry into England, was an extra on Monday still a "Bank Holiday" celebrated. A holiday ... how beautiful .. and especially for bankers ... fits well ... But now it has nothing to do with Bank ... and almost all the shops were open, the garbage was still kinda funny ... .. such a public holiday on which almost no one is celebrating ...
the rental car we had booked for a week. Little time to buy a good and cheap used car. After we had been looking at various merchants, our choice fell on a 10-year-old Rover 45th He belonged to an older gentleman who has driven in just 2500 km with the car. So mileage only 25 tkm. The car looked like new ... to the first "parking attempts" on our car park outside the house ... have the same purely driven a scratch ... but only the front right of the driver's side below the bumper. Is not that bad and is here in St. Ives almost de rigueur, as the roads so close and have a lot of cars a small dent or scratch.
between the various errands - complete buy such example school uniforms, car insurance, pick up car, council tax (a kind of property tax) pay, etc., remained with us but with the beautiful late summer weather still time to go a few times at the beach.
Yannick had shortly after our arrival birthday. If he exerts himself, he can celebrate all oceans birthday. 2 years ago we were on his birthday on the Mediterranean, in the last year at the Baltic Sea and the Atlantic Ocean just now ... His greatest wish was a boat named "Atlantic", which of course had to be opened immediately in the Atlantic. The boat can easily be carried to the beach - we have to run less than 10 minutes there.
Today, Sunday 05th Sept.2010, is our first rainy day here in St. Ives. Next week .... more ...
Samy & Jeremy (Yannick second first name of one can speak better in English ...) should / must from morning to school. Christine and I start looking for a job. See you soon!
